THE POND OF CONTOVELLO
An oasis of natural beauty and tranquility.
The Pond of Contovello is a very popular destination among locals, especially on Sundays. It is ideal for o walk or having an exquisite picnic, as it is well equipped with tables and benches. Its visitors enjoy the fresh air, the beautiful nature and the tranquility offered by this special place, situated just a few kilometers from the city. In the nearby there’s also some parking place.
In the past the pond was even more important for locals, as it was the main water resource for them and their animals.
It is located between the village of Prosecco and the triestine coast. A panoramic path connects this site to the Miramar Castle. The Pond of Contovello can thus become the first destination of a longer itinerary that can include also a visit to the church of Santa Marina della Salvia and the botanical park of the Miramar castle.
